Maredudd is a gentle soul. He prefers to spend his time composing poetry and watching animals. He likes the outdoors, and prefers to be out there and on the mountains. He is very good with animals, generally speaking, and enjoys taking care of them. He has a lot of patience for animals and children.
He values family above almost everything else. He would do almost anything for his siblings, to the point that he's often taken advantage of. However, he does know how to stand up for himself, and will show his displeasure at being used in a fairly assertive way.
He's fairly insecure about his intelligence, since he took a long time to learn to read, and can be a little slow when it comes to arguing or debating. One surefire way to make him feel bad about himself is to call him stupid, an insult often lobbed at him by England in older times.

Wales stroked the lamb's ears, watching as it took small nibbles of the grass. He loved the lambs best, though he certainly had affection for most of the animals kept on his property.
He wondered about the others sometimes. If they were doing well, or if they were stewing in their own anger and self-pity.
Ireland was angry, he knew that much; she never stopped with her anger, spewing hateful things about England every chance she got. Then she would take a great chug of Guinness, and she'd grumble about home rule and potatoes. That was what she mostly ate, and she had no lack of anger at England for the way her people ate.
Scotland stewed by himself, and whenever Wales approached, he would say, 'England's lackey is here to spy on me, eh?' At which point Wales would have to remind him that he and England were not in cahoots, and that he had his complaints as well. He wanted to go to his own church, he wanted to be allowed to learn in Welsh... yet Scotland so quickly forgot that hundreds of years did not mean England and Wales were one and the same, even if the whole world referred to them that way.
And England... when he wasn't drunk-angry, in a red haze and throwing bottles, he was in deep blue depression, sobbing into Wales's shirt about America and how he hated the bastard. He would deny these crying sessions ever took place, but Wales knew.
Wales sighed, still stroking the lamb's ears. He would have to keep an eye out for his siblings; if he didn't, no one would.
